Shoulder and Elbow Surgery

Arthroscopic (Minimally Invasive) Shoulder-Elbow Surgery

The problems related to the shoulder and elbow joints, which assist in positioning our hands in space, are increasingly becoming prevalent today. Increased range of motion and expectations with advancing age, growing involvement in sports activities, overuse during daily tasks or work, and trauma are the main causes of tears and other issues in the shoulder.

The main symptoms of shoulder problems include night pain that disrupts sleep and leads to chronic insomnia, inability to lie on the affected shoulder, inability to reach high objects such as shelves, and difficulty performing even simple daily tasks.

The increasing weakness and limited range of motion, along with pain and difficulty in carrying loads, lead to a SIGNIFICANT DECLINE IN QUALITY OF LIFE. The most common cause of shoulder pain and restricted movement is shoulder impingement, which can progress to shoulder tears. While the initial treatment approach for all orthopedic problems is physical therapy, a significant portion of shoulder tears that cause complaints are treated arthroscopically, meaning the joint is visualized internally with the help of a monitor and repaired using various surgical instruments. At our center, all mentioned shoulder problems (impingement, tears, frozen shoulder, etc.) are treated entirely through the closed method, allowing patients to return to their home life and daily activities in a short period.

Shoulder Prosthesis Surgery (Shoulder Arthroplasty)

Shoulder osteoarthritis is a significant problem of the shoulder joint that requires treatment. Similar to other major joints such as the hip and knee, shoulder osteoarthritis manifests itself with severe pain and advanced restriction of movement, even at rest. Although trauma or rheumatic diseases can be the cause of osteoarthritis, it often develops spontaneously without a specific cause. Shoulder osteoarthritis significantly reduces the quality of daily life (including at night). At our center, shoulder osteoarthritis is successfully treated by replacing both sides of the shoulder joint with surgical prostheses in most cases. The most significant benefit for patients who undergo shoulder prosthetic surgery is the elimination of pain and the restoration of reasonable shoulder movements.
